Erect, cane-like stems rise up into crown of stiff, fish-tail-shaped leaves with prominent ribbed veins. The leaves bear a lovely, dark blue-green metallic sheen. Chamaedorea metallica will grow happily in a wide range of lighting conditions including shade, making it a great choice for adding some lush greenery to a drab corner. Plants can occasionally produce branching spikes of bright orange, purple or red flowers followed by small black fruits. Maximum height: 1-1.5m (3.2-5ft). Spread: 50cm (20in).
