Clusia rosea ‘Princess’ is an ideal houseplant for nervous beginners or busy people who would like some lush indoor foliage which doesn’t demand much attention.
In its native Caribbean, this robust tropical shrub is a bit of a monster, growing off trees and eventually strangling its host. Fortunately, it won’t do this indoors! But plants are quick growers and small window sill specimens can eventually grow several feet if regularly re-potted. It bears handsome, leathery, deep green leaves about 6 inches long. The leaves are so thick, it’s possible to engrave your name on them and watch them grow, hence its nickname: The Autograph Tree. In the Caribbean, the leaves were once engraved with numbers and designs and used as cheap playing cards! Maximum height: 1.5m (60in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
